Death Doris

Summary Death Doris ✓ eBook, ePUB or Kindle PDF A terminally ill teenager finds than a simple escape when he agrees to take part in a futuristic medical experiment involving virtual reality gaming Everett 'Death' H. The premise of Death and Doris is completely crazy but it works A bunch of terminally ill kids are placed in a virtual videogame to avoid the pain of real life treatments If they die in said virtual videogame they re pretty much going to die in real life While ridiculous it gives the characters plenty of motivation to do their absolute best to survive The characters themselves are a mixed bag but by the last page I was sympathetic to nearly all of them Everett Death was pretty bland and his over the top death isms were indeed deeply corny His attitude was fairly annoying considering he s a newbie to the game How can you be a level one Grim Reaper really Everett did at least have a decent heroic streak and I thought his f it attitude was cool at times Doris brought some levity to Death s dour demeanor and brought a level of humanity to the story with her caregiver antics but I enjoyed many of the other characters much than the main duo Especially the realistic assassin Miro Shade and even Tommy Wolfe But that s my standard reaction to books or shows like this as the sub characters are usually unchained from the standard rules of heroics and can do cooler thingsThe action was nice and descriptive I think this was one of the book s greatest strengths I could visualize everything fairly well The descriptions overall did justice to the story including creature descriptions There is a surprising depth to the writing and I can see the author improving it even with his next book I think Mr Green will be someone to definitely watch out for in the futureThe MMO system and stats themselves seem rather basic It s great in that it allows you to easily follow along but you lose some of that current age video game feel The system feels like something that was made 20 years ago instead of 20 years in the future But it s really only the beginning of the story so it can easily expand One really creative aspect to it though was how you could bind your commands in various ways Everett chose to double tap body parts and another guy chose to flex his muscles The customizable binding added some uniueness to every characterSo overall I feel that this book easily surprised me with the depth of its writing and many of its creative ideas I ve only read a few LitRPG books and this one is very original even compared to those I don t think this is even close to being a perfect book but it a very good start to a potentially entertaining series I m tempted to give a 4 but I don t feel bad at all giving a 3 because I think Mr Green has plenty of room to grow and will do it right in front of our eyes with his next entries I highly recommended reading this to see where he started

Green × 8 Summary Death Doris E–book/E–pub Death and Doris has a good story that's held back by a few things First Everett is annoyingly emo and keeps spouting cringe inducing lines such as You can't outrun the Reaper The name's Everett Death now take it to your grave This bit gets old really fast Second this book was very poorly edited; punctuation errors abound and you'll be spotting them with alarming regularity But as I said it has a good story Green has included all the trap
